Ephesians 2:8
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.”
Grace means you didn’t earn it. You didn’t fight your way into it. You didn’t become “good enough” for it. God gave it freely.
That cuts against how most people live. We’re wired to believe everything must be earned. Approval, love, forgiveness. But salvation doesn’t work that way. If it did, no one would qualify.
Faith is simply the open hand that receives what grace gives.
It’s not about how strong your faith feels. It’s about where your faith is placed. Even shaky faith in a faithful God is enough.
This verse strips away pride and pressure at the same time. You don’t get to boast like you saved yourself, and you don’t have to carry the weight of trying to.
Grace says: It’s already been done.
Faith says: I trust that.
So today, stop trying to prove yourself worthy of something God already decided to give. Walk in it. Rest in it. Live from it.
Prayer
God, thank You for giving what I could never earn. Teach me to trust You more deeply and stop relying on myself. Help me to live in the freedom of Your grace, not the pressure of performance. Amen.
