Scripture (NIV)

Mark 9:2“After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them.”

Mark 9:7“Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: ‘This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!’”

Devotional Reflection

There are moments in life when everything ordinary suddenly pulls back and we’re given a glimpse of something greater. That’s what happened on the mountain.

Jesus Christ didn’t change into something new He revealed who He truly was all along. The disciples saw His glory, something usually hidden beneath the everyday.

And then came the voice.

Not advice. Not a suggestion. A clear command:

“Listen to Him.”

It’s simple, but not easy. We live surrounded by noise opinions, fears, distractions, and endless input. Even in faith, it’s possible to hear about Jesus more than we actually listen to Him.

This moment reminds us:

  • Faith isn’t just about witnessing powerful experiences

  • It’s about responding with attention and obedience

The cloud represents mystery. The mountain represents perspective. And the voice cuts through both:

👉 Pay attention to Jesus.

Prayer

Lord

In the middle of noise and distraction, help me hear You clearly.

When I seek signs, remind me to seek Your voice.

When I feel uncertain, anchor me in Your truth.Teach me not just to admire You but to listen, trust, and follow.

Amen.
